Born and raised in Vienna, Dr. Hexel has over 20 years of clinical experience in the field of orthopedic surgery. From early on he specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves (musculoskeletal system) of the shoulder and knee joint with a special focus on sport associated injuries and its consequences.

 

He is one of the few Austrian Trauma and orthopedic surgeons who proudly present an extraordinary training background from high level, nationally  and internationally recognized clinics.

Dr. Hexel is currently the head of the orthopedic Department at the AUVA Traumacenter Vienna  (UKH Meidling und Lorenz Böhler Krankenhaus), at our campus in Meidling. 

Traumacenter Vienna, Meidling, is a recognized Level 1 center for orthopedic Trauma and elective orthopedic surgery. Specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and disorders of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves (musculoskeletal system). Subspecialties within the department include adult reconstruction, pediatric trauma, sports trauma, spine, foot, hand, shoulder and elbow. Ultramodern surgical theaters and rehabilitation facilities as well as a dedicated team and support staff will make you feel comfortable and safe.

 

One of his greatest passions is to share his knowledge and experienced with colleagues and trainees and as an internationally known surgeon you will find him presenting and discussing at international and Austrian meetings at the highest level.
